very unique in the sense that i've seen many shots of this kind yet this one is executed in such a way that the shadow definition upon the breaking wave really makes it stand out...any digital manipulation? ps if you have time, please visit my portfolio to critique - thanks.

Just too much "burning-in" on the spray. I think it neutralizes the effect of the splash. You really have to be careful with the background area with this kind of thing as it has created a dark halo around the spray.

I think this is a nice picture however as Bob said above the sky appears noticeably burned or dodged. Since it's a digital file maybe the original can be redone to improve this.
