Away from the dance-floor, far from the madding crowd, deeper into the catacombs of the

warehouse, passion flares. The rave is a modern-day celebration of the rites of Aphrodite,

the concrete storage spaces deep in the heart of the city's industrial district its temples, the

hour of offering between midnight and dawn. Like the ancient Athenian ceremonies devoted

to the worship of the fertility godess, the rave is a secret gathering of the adepts whose

protocols are surrounded in mystery.

nah ... they just wanna shag.

it's kind of an almost shot. the furtiveness is great, both for the couple and the photographer. I like how the pillar divides the light and the dark, and how it's at a slight angle to the horizontal frame edges. but maybe things are a bit too centred? maybe the highlights on the left are too bright. guess I might like to see more grain, more gradual vignetting, and more bringing out the texture of the walls - so the viewer gets a sense of what it's like to be pressed up against them.

Jeremy, Fell into the old, intinctive centering habit on this one as I still often do, I am afraid. Feel free to keep commenting on my posts, I need the critical response. By the way, I took a second shot of this afterward which I shall post in the next few days. Feel free to return and comment on it.

yup - had to work myself out of that habit. try shooting at 28mm (FF equivalent), meter / focus on the subject in the center of the frame, hit the AE button, then move the subject so that they're pushing against the edges of the frame. doesn't always work, but it does become more instinctive after a while.
