Jim_Dockery_Photos 2 Posted April 17, 2006 Jon was a lucky boy, taking the first run down this perfect powder slope on a superb day of backcountry skiing in the Cascades.

salvatore.mele 1 Posted April 25, 2006 These shots inspire me. I've taken a few this winter, but having seen yours I think I will not dare posting the results. Of course, the red jacket works miracles, here, and so it does the spray of powder trailing your friend. I wonder whether I would have shot the same places, or would have favoured the third of the series to be in a turn rather than in a straight section. The serpentine shape of the skier track, of couse, glues our eye to the image, and I wonder if we really need all this space to the left and right. On one hand, it is functional in telling a strory of background ski as a quest for space and freedom, on the other hand, does not have a large function... what about cropping off a bit from both the edges and going for a square?
Jim_Dockery_Photos 2 Posted May 1, 2006 Once again you find the same thing I also see in my picture. When I printed this for my photo albumn I cropped it on the sides making a nice 8x10, focusing on the skier, but I also like this version for the very reason you point out - the freedom and purity of back-country skiing. I love seeing all that beautiful untracked snow to either side of John (which I was anxious to cut up).
