My Beautiful Wife

I'm new to portrait photography and am just testing the waters with

some studio lights I borrowed from a friend. All I know is what

I've read from a lighting book. The rest, I guess I have to learn

from trial and error.

For this, I used a single umbrella. Light on the background was

from the room light. Some people have already told me that it's a

little dark.

Hello DV, you've waited a long time to post an image.

I can sense your pride, your wife is beautiful. I like the lighting and I think you have produced a nice portrait. However, you have set your wife in front of hard edges that are quite prominent. So a slight move to the left would give a more even background. It would also help if you submitted a smaller image, so that you have control of the compressed image that people see. Possibly 800px high for a portrait is a good size.
