jnicholson 0 Posted April 7, 2006 Nice layers, Kim. Is this Joshua Tree National Park? Also, is the white area a puffy cloud? Looks like maybe you got to see some thunderstorms. Nice job. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 7, 2006 Thanks Jamie! The white area is a puffy cloud. The clouds were weird that day. It's Joshua Tree Nat'l Park. It was in the 40's with wind and intermittent rain, so we didn't hike around much. Mom and I went to Murrieta to visit my son for a few days, and most of the time it rained and was cold. I'll have to go back! Link to comment
katzpjs 50 Posted April 8, 2006 I never tire of seeing Joshua Tree or photos that others have taken there. You must go back when you have at least two full days to explore its many nice hikes. A small book, "best easy day hikes - Joshua Tree" by Bill Cunningham and Polly Burke is a must have before going.I have 17 photos from my last visit in March 2004 here in this folder "Joshua Tree". Thanks for sharing your short but beautiful time in the park. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 9, 2006 Thanks Shawn! Our time there was very short; a couple of hours. Thanks for the info...I'm going to visit your folder :) Link to comment
lgreene 0 Posted April 9, 2006 Another nice one Kim. Balanced composition-faint trail leading thru diagonaly, tree on left dark silhouette on right. Lovely colors. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 10, 2006 Thanks Leann! I was disappointed in most of my photos from there, but I'm working on them anyway, since I can't go back for a while. Link to comment
jana 1 Posted April 10, 2006 Hello Kim, The tree is fantastic ! As for the composition, I think a low crop of the image (as in the foreground in not very intresting) would make the compo tighter. cheers Jana Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 11, 2006 Thanks Jana! I was trying to stick to that rule of thirds, but I think I didn't crop far enough when I was trying it. I'll try your suggestion! Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted April 11, 2006 A very neat image. Good compostiion with lovely natural colour tones. Link to comment
rkynast 1 Posted April 11, 2006 I like the composition and clouds in that area are very hard to come by, though Jana is right about the foreground. My nit-pic is that the tree seems a little out of focus, though you said it was windy and I've no idea how much they move in a good wind. Regards. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 12, 2006 Thanks for looking, Richard! I plan to work on those things, to see if I can make those improvements work. Thanks! Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 13, 2006 I like the composition Kim ,color range of warm hues is beautifil on the strip of blue ( cold) sky. Link to comment
susan stone 0 Posted April 17, 2006 I can feel the heat lifting off the land and the approaching storm, makes me feel a part of this lovely landscape. I always enjoy and appreciate the comments people leave and the different opinions about composition.....yes cropping the foreground might help keep the focus on the trees and sky but I sorta like how the foliage leads the eye into the background and is an intregal part of the environment. So many images, so many solutions and interpratations. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 20, 2006 Thanks Susan! I think I'd like it both ways, so maybe I'll just make two photos. Link to comment
