I need some good advice on this. Does it work for you? . Do you like

it? Any suggestion or critic even negative is welcome. Trying to learn.

I have no advice to give, only that in my opinion it is one of your best I have seen so far. Yes, ominous I think is the right adjective to describe the feeling it conveys.

The only thing I do not really like is the too big black part of the image on the top

the idea and creativity i like very much

is using a grain filter on the image. I think it would add interest, and it would keep the black area from becoming quite so ponderous.

Excellent work. Keep it up.

Well, I am amazed, so many comments. I must say something: this pic was taken last summer, I processed it last october or so, but I thought it was not good enough for photonet :-) Yesterday I decided (happily) to give it a try and posted it just to know some other opinions. And now... seems to be one of my best pics :-)

Thank you to everybody, you helped me a lot, I will try all your sugestions because I find them interesting even when sometimes I tend to only make the changes in my personal gallery instead of posting them here again in order to not be too boring. I have been checking your portfolios and I became impresed by their quality. That made me proud and encouraged me to post some more. The only thing is now I am not sure about my criterium. :-)

Thanks again!!!

Oh, I also like it Sebastian. The lonely man in the big world below the ominous dark sky.

Hi Sebastian-it really works (not your best photo imho but it definetly works) and it's very encouraging to see an image like this getting recognition on PN. I could write an essay about this photo but it says its own 1000 words. This is how the world sometimes looks and feels to all of us. You are working on emotion and thought and therefore end up presenting a world i have no problem recognising as more real than realism. Ultra-contrast/high focus??? I struggle with that (accepted) view of reality sometimes and therefore this piece is a joy to behold.

Sebastian, I'm sure that you know very well that this photo works. It's very very good. If you feel unsure if it works on Photonet, something is wrong with Photonet or your perception of it. Seeing the reactions here, it is obviously your perception that is questionable. That promises well. It is this quality of photos we should see more of and less of the oversharpened, oversaturated standard cute photos that we so often see highly rated. I hope you have more of the same inspired photos. I can ensure you that I will be frequent visitor in your portfolio. 6/7 (the 6, because I'm sure you can do even better, although I have no advice to give you - I feel you know yourself.

Again Thanks to everybody. You encourage me a lot. I just want to answer some of the comments. First of Anders: I think it is obviously my perception, but I must tell you that my personal rates do not necesarily agree with the photonet rates (or comments). I am honestly surprised that this one got so many comments. On the other hand I am not sure if I have more like this. I will probably post some "landscapes" that I have made but I do not know if they are so good. (I wish you could tell me, even if it is a NO)To Jim: Thanks for your comment and link, I wish I could do something that good. To Darrell: I am glad you liked it. I know more or less your direction. Thanks to the other well known photographers as well.

Final remark: I have checked your portfolios and I must tell that I am impressed because it is obvious that you have a high level. That makes me proud of having received your attention.
