Elise,i'm not an especialist about macro,but i think in this photo you need close a little bit the diaphragm, to win of depth of field and definition about the mantis head

.In macro the distances between the lens and the objects are very very litle, therefore the depth of field is very very litle too, and to take definition and focus, we must be close the diaphragm.

Impressive DOF but light is a bit hard and the empty right part is useless. I'd crop from this side.
