danblu 0 Posted March 25, 2006 Most impressive lighting, wonderful capture Garik. The smoke adds a lot of atmosphere to the photo, though, glad I cannot smell the stuff! bravo from Peter. Link to comment
farmer on the hill 0 Posted March 26, 2006 The light reflecting from the news paper on to the mans face is clever. Very good lighting and exposure. Link to comment
Karl Schuler 48 Posted March 26, 2006 This kind of inside photos are the real strength of the 5D. I like the composition and the mood of this photo. Great light. You catched the soul of this place. Congratulations. Karl Link to comment

hannueskelinen 0 Posted March 26, 2006 Great mixture of ambient and artificial light... Link to comment
billfoster 0 Posted March 26, 2006 Did you set this up? The way the light reflects of the menu into his face, you couldn't have designed this any better. Spectacular lighting and just enough detail everywhere else. It's really hard to get an inside shot with lighting this good but you made it look perfectly natural. Well done .... Link to comment
steve_lowther 0 Posted March 28, 2006 The real strength of this image is in the lower 40%, below the window. Crop out the top 60% eliminating the window altogether, and you will take this image to the next level. (If you don't find this critique helpful let me know and I will remove it.) Link to comment
thierrylaflamme 0 Posted March 28, 2006 Wow! Stunning! Light, tones and contrast are beautiful here... 7/7 Link to comment

farmer on the hill 0 Posted March 28, 2006 Did someone say this photograph has potential??? He's got to be kidding. The window has so much to do with this immage with all the other points at the upper half. This immage is a perfect 7-7. Link to comment
steve_lowther 0 Posted March 30, 2006 I think we have a "less is more" situation here. What you have is very good, even excellent. However, I think cropping will really give the image "pit-of-your-stomach" impact. Your image brings to mind Van Gough's "The Potato Eaters". But the lighting may be more reminescent of Raphael or Rembrandt. There is much magic here, and if there are those who disagree, that is fine also. Much of what we like is the taste in our mouths. Karl Schuler 48 Posted March 31, 2006 The original photo is a world: A small world though, but it captures very well the interesting surroundings of the main scene and the opening to the outer world. The second one is just a very strong restaurant scene but not more. Therefore the original in my view is much more amazing than the amputated one. Karl Link to comment
josemartinez 0 Posted March 31, 2006 In general, I'm against croping, mainly in a shot like this one. I would like to see the full frame. This is not the total image taken, so if we will evaluate the croping, I want, if is posible, to see the complete photo. Link to comment
mrstubbs 0 Posted April 14, 2006 And Fine Art it is Garik. I like the idea of revisiting the old artists within todays environment. Portraits within portraits. Link to comment
emre 0 Posted April 25, 2006 Now this I like! Perfect execution. So much so I can barely believe it's candid. I considered the comments, and found further cropping unnecessary. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted May 15, 2006 A real Gem Garik, light and surrounding are perfect!Your original is the one I preffer. Link to comment
missionhenrikson 0 Posted June 13, 2006 Simply Smashing image. Don't even think of croping it! Link to comment
