Miami - City of lights

Very rarely do you have so little wind that you get good reflections in the intracoastal waterway.Staggered Buildings to the left allow the wind to create the river pattern of the reflexions.

if I were to crop it I would remove the RIGHT side (the tall building) and have a dome-like structure of buildings. The only problem there is that it is going to make the picture a litle too centered. Or you can just leave it the way it is - I think it is great now as well.

On the other hand (I played with the picture a little and tried different crops) I think it is best the way it is.

This was one of these situations were you have a picture in mind and just have to wait for the moment to come - fortunately I live in SoBe and commute to Miami every day - so I can always evaluate how flat the water is:)

PS. The right building is actually my favourite one - especially in blue with white stars.

Frank, This is a great example of 'working' the territory you are familiar with. We should all take a lesson from you & work the territory closer to home that we know intimately. As Alice (in Wonderland) said "I give myself very good advice, but I very seldom follow it". Best, LM.

The reflections are not just some stuff that fills the bottom of the pic. That was my original question: How can I enhance the impact of the reflections by cropping. They are what is rare about this pic and what I had to wait for - I have tons of shots just the skyline.

I am on a Bridge so there your choice of foreground is the railing:)

Thank you for this shot! It opened my eyes for The Big City. So far I had never wanted to visit a place like that. Now I find it a very thrilling idea.

Feels like one can actually smell the water and feel the breeze!

It's a very lively, emotionally powerful shot!

oh... and I love the reflecions!
