Another try at B&W from color. Please critique...I would like to

learn!

I love the drama and art of this piece. Keeping it at b/w also makes the shot.

So does this mean Guatemala is out of the question for the next vacation?????

This is really a nicely detailed shot. Wonderful how you even managed to get the bug to pose. I wonder though if a shot like this might be better in a color and not a black and white. While the shot of the rocky shore was spectacular in B&W this appears to me to need something else. Forgive me for posting an alternative here but it's only a thought and idea.

Than you for your suggestion. These last B&W experiments were inspired by an article I read in a photoshop magazine. It gives instructions on creating monochromes or duo tones from color pictures through the use of adjustment layers. I have never been happy with straight desaturation...seems too flat for me, and so I have been trying to create a "rich" black and white image.

you did a great job doing this in b+w, I never knew seaweed is toned in such subtle shades!
