Jim_Dockery_Photos 2 Posted March 21, 2006 The early afternoon shadows were dramatic while climbing this little peak in the North Cascades on the last day of winter. The powder skiing back down was incredible!
martin_lee5 0 Posted March 21, 2006 Nice photo, but the sky is unnaturally dark. I used to routinely use a red filter for sky shots until someone pointed out to me that it looked like the photo had been taken at night. Now I use orange unless there are some bright clouds to contrast with the dark sky.
jstyles 0 Posted April 9, 2006 Jim, I just had my first thorough look through your portfolio and of course I love living in the mountains vicariously through many of your shots, but this one is probably my favourite - the light and shadow / snow and sky are beautifully balanced, down to the gradient in the sky lightening over the close trees, and the scene has a beautiful crisp cold peacefulness to it with the fresh snow hanging heavy on the branches and the sun glistening off the snow crystals - the peace broken only by the skiers breathing in my ears as s/he toils onwards with that summit or hut destination in mind. It represents perfectly my feeling of being there. Easily one of my favourites on PN.
