mrhaydon 0 Posted March 16, 2006 Cheers, and thanks for looking. Please check out my Northumberland folder, for more Holy island pictures. Link to comment
sherwinjames 0 Posted March 16, 2006 Bold and powerful shot. The birds are a nice touch. Not sure about the dark clouds on the left (were they there or did you add them in?). Overall good photo. Link to comment
alberto.conde 0 Posted March 16, 2006 You have mastered a great image of those impressive ruins by choosing the right moment and waiting for those flying birds to add the decisive touch to an already excellent image. Link to comment
nanette 0 Posted March 16, 2006 The birds definitely make this shot. Great mood overall. I agree that the clouds on the left are too dark for my liking, maybe they could be dodged if there is enough detail in the shadows. Link to comment
peter_martin1 0 Posted March 16, 2006 I love everything about this image apart from that cloud on the left. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 17, 2006 I like the idea, but for me it's just too obviously manipulated/composite. Link to comment
AJHingel 127 Posted March 17, 2006 Michael, this photo is certainly very impressive. Well done, the right moment and an admirable restrain on the colour tones. For once we have here a photo that receives high ratings despite the fact that no over saturated colour tones are present. Furthermore the photo is free of heavy animations as pedestrians, cyclist and the like - only a few flying birds add to the general threatening mood of the scene giving hope for the aesthetic standards of photonet. Great photo. I agree however on the questioning concerning the black clouds to the left. Anders Link to comment
mrhaydon 0 Posted March 17, 2006 Many thanks all. Just to fill in a few details, I don't consider myself a HEAVY user of photoshop, if I were to post my original photos, you would most likely say, oh dear, Michael have you heard of photoshop ? 'cause your pictures sure need tweeking. I had just a few days to shoot my Northumberland folder, and the weather and light was a little dim, which I didn't mind. So when I got back to London, I thought the best thing to do was give nearly all my Northumberland landscape shots the 'Medievil' treatment. The dark cloud on the left was deliberately done, sometimes you will see it on a number of these kind of shots. It simply means that 'trouble/dark days lie ahead' Again thanks for your feedback.
