dem_photos 0 Posted March 14, 2006 This would be a situation in which adequate working distance is essential. Keeping exotic plants from taking over my property generates a fair amount of brush each year, and once a year my wife and I get a burning permit to keep the size of the brush heap under control. These are embers from this year's burn. Comments are of course more than welcome. Link to comment

sherwinjames 0 Posted March 16, 2006 David, Of the three embers shot, I like this one the best. The glow in the central part of the image anchors the shot well, and there is good balance between the dark and light areas. Good detail as well. Overall a good job. Link to comment
jb the piper 0 Posted September 5, 2006 Burning wood is always pleasing to the eye. It's bright, it has beautiful colors and it moves. Taking a picture of this must be hard because you know that the lights will not move. It can't be as beautiful as live but it's close to this. Link to comment
dem_photos 0 Posted September 5, 2006 That's an interesting observation Jean-Baptiste. Although there are ways to imply motion with photography, photos most often freeze motion, and if the beauty of a subject lies in its motion, that aspect of its beauty will probably be diminished in a photo. On the other hand, my zoom lens did allow me to view this subject closer than I could have managed with the naked eye. Perhaps a film at this magnification would be best of all. Link to comment
