carl smith 0 Posted January 14, 2002 Almost thought it was a cemetary near me. Good shot. I like how the background is faded out in the snow. Link to comment
gsphotoguy 3 Posted January 14, 2002 I like this image. I'm waiting for snow in Central New Jersey so I can head to my favorite cemetery for snow photos there. Link to comment
willard_d._farr 0 Posted January 14, 2002 Great Shot. Of course I am a Black and White fan. I like the Vertical framing. I never really noticed how much you can do in the way of cropping and directing the eye but simply framing a shot vertically. The back ground is great. Nice effect. Alas, it doesn't snow in the deserts of West Texas, so shots like this won't happen here. Link to comment

dan_sheppard 0 Posted January 15, 2002 I like it. At first glance, I thought I detected some green in those trees. It is a nice shot in B&W, but for kicks, if you have access to photoshop, you could try to introduce just the subtlest hint of green into the trees. Link to comment
ken_bufton 0 Posted January 18, 2002 Great shot Marty! Photographing the snow is a hard task as TTL meters get fooled and and read the white as 18% grey, the result being grey snow! The snow out of the shadow area is nice and white so top marks not only for a nice photo but for technical ability also! How about some of your models in winter portraits??? Link to comment
my_pics 0 Posted September 18, 2002 The other commetators above have surely noted the assets of this image...the natural framing on the pastel background. First thing I thought was along the lines of the cold, lonely solitude of the grave. When an image goes beyond all the glory of being a wonderful pic and speaks to the soul, it leaves the mechanics and rules of technique and becomes art. A music major told me, when I was a teen piano student, "Webster says music is the art of making beautiful sounds. Webster was wrong. Music is the art of expressing one's emotions with beautiful sounds." Karsh's wonderful B&W of Pablo Casals, from the back, playing his cello, won it's glory when a young man kept returning to the gallery to view it. The curator finally broke down and asked him why he was so drawn. The response was, "Shhh. Can't you hear the music?" Oh well, enough philosophy for one day, LOL. To me, this picture talks. mark_smith12 0 Posted September 27, 2002 I like this too. Nice framing, good contrast, and very nice exposure. I would have liked to see the background a little blurred (to give more of a feeling of fading out) and, perhaps, a little lower angle. Did you take one that showed the tree looking like it was sheltering the graves closest to it? I think that would have been a nice effect as well. Link to comment
m._ort 0 Posted September 28, 2002 Mark -- good idea. Yes, it occurred to me, but I would have needed a ladder to do it. Thanks and kind regards, m. Link to comment
