aepelbacher 0 Posted March 11, 2006 Colin, this is what I wish I had done in England instead of staying in London. Next time.... :-) This scene is THE reason why I travel. And, since I live just outside a big city, I probably ought to do all of my vacationing outside of big cities. I love the gorgeous blue sky with the whispy clouds ... the pretty country lane ... the leftover rainwater ... the farm access road ... the lone tree in the distance. I love the entire scene!! And you probably had all the time in the world to set up the shot without cars flying by you. Yeah ... this is the life!! :-) By the way, I'm teetering on the edge of buying a 10-22mm. I'll be traveling to Colorado in April for a week. I'm thinking I *need* that lens to do some mountain shots. :-) Canon ought to pay you an advertiser's fee!! Have a wonderful weekend! All my best to Gil! Link to comment
alberto.conde 0 Posted March 14, 2006 I think Carsten is right. Colour is unnecesary when you have that wonderful light and composition. Besides, Carsten is a great master with the channel mixer tool (which he taught me to use)as it can be seen in this great version of his Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted March 15, 2006 I love this picture, Colin. Very peaceful. And yet the B&W version that Carsten suggested gives it another kind of strength. Of course, it only works because the original image is so good to begin with... Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted March 16, 2006 Thanks everyone! Carsten, thanks for your b&w version. I see what you mean. I think I am too much of a colour person though to do without it! Lou Ann, my only reservation about wholeheartedly recommending the Canon 10-22 is that some people just don't seem to get on with it and, having bought the thing, rarely use it. Wide angles and ultra-wides need particular techniques, the most common of which is putting something strong in the foreground. PS perspective distortion is also often necesary to achieve a more natural look. Link to comment
atkphotoworks 0 Posted March 19, 2006 I am torn between the black and white version and the original colour version. Pardon me if I am repeating anything discussed above...Part of me wishes that the road was cut out, but I like the curve of the road out to the left. Beautiful scene Colin. The sky and clouds in the background make it a wonderful image. Link to comment
mike werkhoven 0 Posted March 19, 2006 A still life of a landscape and beatiful too. Hay Colin. Link to comment
sarahunderhill 1 Posted March 30, 2006 Nice shot with a wide angle. Nice sky and clouds, along side the bare tree.... Link to comment
poutnik 1 Posted April 1, 2006 Colin, a very beautiful sky (IMO the main subject) well ballanced in a triangle with the fence and the tree... Very well done... Jiri Link to comment
ianflindt 0 Posted May 11, 2006 I reckon it must take great skill (and a natural eye) to see the potential in a scene which many others would not have noticed...and you have realized that potential superbly with this image, Colin. The composition is flawless, the light gorgeous. A terrific image. Link to comment
jenkins 0 Posted January 27, 2012 This is a nice image Colin, I like the composition immensely plenty to keep the eye occupied. Link to comment
