LenMarriott 9 Posted January 7, 2002 Gerald, what I find most interesting about this shot is the difference between mine (taken under similar lighting conditions) with NPS and yours with Superia 400. I like the contrast of yours better but prefer my roots :) I've bought some Superia to try next time I get flat lighting. Best, LM. Link to comment

jason anders 0 Posted January 8, 2002 I can't for the life of me understand what the others found so interesting in this picture. It looks dead, not much interesting things in it. Just being straightforward. Link to comment
monomial 0 Posted January 14, 2002 What's not interesting about this photograph? These roots of an old tree symbolize, well, so much, and they're captured with incredible attention to lighting and composition. Perhaps one would want a human in this photo, but did you ever see any trace of humans in most of Ansel Adams work? Were not his photographs interesting? Well done, Gerald. Could this have been done in black and white? I'm not sure why, maybe because of the distracting colors in the background, but I like it more in B&W. Either way, I like it. Link to comment
tonys 0 Posted March 5, 2002 I fully agree with Michael, only I doubt one can change Petar's mind. It's a remarkable photograph Gerald. Link to comment
dee 0 Posted November 4, 2003 I love tree roots exposed. This is nicely composed with the roots forming a V shape leading to the tree which leans at an angle. I've tried root photos but had terrible luck getting any decent lighting. Link to comment
vines marketing agency 0 Posted May 28, 2004 Wonderful composition and angle. These roots just grab you and drag you in. Amazing! Link to comment
