This is the kind of work that is only valuable if you're a famous artist.

Actually, it would make a good background- if you had maybe a bug crawling across that, or coin sitting there.

The idea of the background, hmmm, nice! I must think about what would be a good foreground except of bugs, because they are so hard to convince to walk over such surfaces ;-)

As about "famous artists", well Stephen, this is a main problem that we encounter every day. Is something beautiful because you find it beautiful, or is it so because some "famous artist" tells you that it is so? For myself I prefer my own kind of perception in things that lack any kind of "proof" that they are one or another way. You see this is not mathematics, it's art, and about a single picture you will hear endless impressions and opinions, which is a good thing, because else we would bound art to the gusto of the "famous artist", whatever this might mean. And this can only get... boring!

In other words, get out and keep on shooting, showing us how you, Stephen or anybody else, perceive the world. Make thinks visible!

Best wishes to you,

Nick

Over in the Dallas Museum of Art, they have a large painting, maybe 4'x10' wide or so. Top half is black, bottom half is white (or maybe vice versa) That's all. A Famous Artist did it, so it hangs in a musuem. If you or I did it, we couldn't sell it for a nickel.

Yes, Stephen, things are this way, so does this imply that it is also right this way? My opinion is no. The difference between what is and what should be, is a main power for changes and development.

In addition: I don't have to sell something for millions in order for this something to be nice in my eyes. Price in not everything.

Or should I think about possible customers before I press the shutter button? (In which case I'd rather sell my whole equipment right away ;-))
