the ole master 0 Posted February 25, 2006 I really like the moodiness of this shot. Good shot! Link to comment
seandepuydt 2 Posted February 25, 2006 You have crafted a very moody image. I'm not quite sold on the composition though. Link to comment
billfoster 0 Posted February 26, 2006 This is a beautiful shot. I love the dark sky? Did you darken it with PS? If so, you really did a superior job because I can see no trace along the trees, which are notoriously difficult. Anyway, I love the light and the muted colors. I agree that perhaps a bit less forground or a shift to the left a bit might improve it. Very well done. Link to comment

kahkityoong 0 Posted February 28, 2006 Really nice tones in this shot that lend a reflective mood. Some of the sky on the right is overblown but doesn't really detract much from a fine shot. Link to comment
birteragland 1 Posted February 28, 2006 Very moody shot, beautifully taken, reminds me a bit of my homeland Denmark. Link to comment
Groetjes, Wim. Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted March 19, 2006 I second Sean's comment: Although there are many attractive elements in this image, the composition as a whole doesn't quite hang together. One problem may be that no lines lead us into the scene; instead, the horizontals formed by the grass, river, and far bank tend to block the eye from traveling further. Also, the main subject is on the far right, while the background detail is at the far left, forcing us to choose between them, instead of moving smoothly on from one to the other. On the positive side, the light and the mood here are again stunning. Jan, in praising your other work I've observed that you have a sublime talent for this sort of subtle, moody light and the delicate tones and colors it reveals. This image confirms my opinion -- this is a distinctive style of yours, and you really excel at it. Link to comment
