ljk 0 Posted February 21, 2006 In the flat areas of Australia, you can see weather approaching for miles. This looked pretty scary to us...soon after I took this picture, we dove for the car, and the rain came in torrents! This is more a grab shot than anything.... Link to comment
stormphotonet 1 Posted February 21, 2006 Oh I want to be there! Nice work I love it! Best wishes from USA, Ken Link to comment
leighperry 0 Posted February 21, 2006 Welcome to Australia Linda. Hope you enjoyed / are enjoying your visit. Can't say I've ever seen anything like this though -- amazing. Regards Leigh. Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted February 21, 2006 Wow! Talk about storm clouds. This is called being in the right place at the right time WITH A CAMERA! Well done. Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted February 22, 2006 Kenneth...thanks! G'day, Leigh. Roger and I are here until mid-April, restoring his house in Korumburra. This cloud was seen near Yarram. Howard...when traveling, never leave home without a Map and a Camera. Rule number 1 :-) Andrea, even though this was taken with a wide angle lens, I could barely get it all in! Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 22, 2006 Wow, impressive, Linda! I'll have to show this to Ed - he's a weather nut! Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted February 22, 2006 Kim...Roger and I had never seen anything like this either...and honestly, we didn't know what to expect next. The winds whipped up, the rains came down with a vengence. Hurricane-like. The color of the cloud was strange, too. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted February 22, 2006 The clouds are fabulous here! For a "grab shot", it's a winner!! Link to comment
daily_photograph 0 Posted February 22, 2006 For everyone who went to school for more than a decade as I did - now the opportunity to understand the nature of clouds! Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted February 23, 2006 Sort of looks like the mess my wife made last night with her new KitchenAid! ^_^ Link to comment
someoneelse 1 Posted February 23, 2006 Sweet Linda, seeing this gave me a flashback in memory, of a comment you once gave to me, I looked it up and found it, this is what you said: I've always wanted to be by the ocean during a hurricane. It's not the danger that draws me but the awesome power of nature... Somehow I wanted to say this to you. Els Link to comment
kim_tural 0 Posted February 23, 2006 This is quite the awesome cloud formation and it would scare me too. Interesting to see the arch in it. Is that from the wide angle lens ? Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted February 23, 2006 Colin..it was quite intimidating! Lou Ann...here's an example of the subject, not the photographer, being the winner. Daily...thought I was due for a change...:-) Wilson...I hope you didn't have to eat it!-) Kim...this was the shape of the cloud, no lens distortion! Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted February 24, 2006 Thank you for finding that quote! I remember saying it. Yeterday it was so windy here, that we just had to go to the ocean to see the waves. Trouble is, the wind blew the sand in our faces and cameras! LOL! Link to comment
mike werkhoven 0 Posted November 18, 2006 Nature surprises us so many times, very amazing and nice captured, I like the suspense of the color. Yes, nice you passed by and left commend on the old men, with his beer, girl and thoughts. See you, Mike Link to comment
