pnital 36 Posted February 23, 2006 Daily ( really missed you, unchangeable Daily...), Andrea and Shuki. it is a very significant, typical image of Mali. I'm glad it is appealing to you. Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted February 25, 2006 Pnina Very special composition. I love the textures, the girls braclets, and the comments this image evoked from some people. Well done. Link to comment
tholte 16,720 Posted February 25, 2006 A truly beautiful image! Well-composed and lovely colors that compliment each other. The only thing that keeps this from being perfect is that it is over-sharpened, a little diffusion or less sharpening and it goes back to being perfect. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted February 25, 2006 Tim, the image was sharpened mildly, I upload the composition without sharpening,If you see it again, please let me know if you see a difference,Thanks . Howard, I appreciate your comments, thanks Pnina Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted March 1, 2006 Pnina, I like your sharpened version better. A winning composition rich with textures. Your subject is well placed within the frame and the exposure is great. I also agree with Salvatore that this one is better left in colour for the feeling of heat the colour provides though, apart from that, B&W would work well. It just wouldn't be as effective. Best, LM. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted March 2, 2006 Hi Len, always a pleasure to see you here and read your observation. As you seeTim Holt wrote a comment about sharpness but did not come again to answer my question , So you have answered instead... and thank you for that. Len, Mali is the poorest country in Africa, partly a desert,a lot of problems, BUT very colorful, especially the people cloths.I think that in order to paint a story of that country, colors are essential! So thanks for your vote and comment, Pnina Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted March 16, 2006 Hi, Pnina. I love this one--and the entire folder. I am supposed to teach a course on the politics of contemporary Africa in the fall, a field about which I know nothing. You are giving me some incredible material to pass along to my students. Please don't take them down! --Lannie Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted March 16, 2006 Welcome!!I'm glad it will be of help to you, that was my first aim aside from the photographs,I wanted to light a very hard situation of people's life, which is not unique in Africa only to Mali.Coming from the plenty of the West, it was not easy to see. How Do you intend to use the information ? If I can be of more help to you( If I know..) let me know. That serries of photos is in Europe helping "Mama Africa"( see Baobab glasses) in her lectures to collect money for more project to help. I see myself privileged that my work is being of help to let people at least be aware and maybe advocacy and action will follow. Link to comment
alberto.conde 0 Posted September 28, 2006 Again superb comnposition and colour palette. The inclusion of the stone "bricks" below her and to her left, forming two opposing lines, vertical and horizontal, give full energy to the image This is a very interesting journey you are taking us along. Thanks a lot. Link to comment
