Bright colors against a motled background work pretty well here. I think maybe the composition would be somewhat more interesting if more of the in focus flower was showing and the background flowers were less dominating. I'm not a very good photographer of flowers, but just from an asthetic appeal, the central focus of an image should be the most interesting and dominating subject. The background probably should be there to support the central idea. On this image...I think the background sort of dominates the image...just my opinion...not really being critical.

Thanks for the comments, I think Keith your right - the background does dominate a bit, and distracts the eye a bit too much.
