joachim.wabnig 0 Posted January 30, 2006 What looks like a sun-flooded morning is actually a chilly January night. What looks like rays of sun is artificially produced by zooming in and out during the exposure. I still hope I created a powerful image. What are your thoughts? Link to comment
allan_neilsen 0 Posted January 30, 2006 Great piece of work, Joachim. I assumed it was shot early in the morning until I read your note. Two questions: what was the light source (it's very warm). How were you able to exercise such control over the zoom effect (I've tried it and what happens surprises me more often than not. -- Allan Link to comment
joachim.wabnig 0 Posted January 30, 2006 The picture was taken 100m into a forest at night. The red light comes from the sodium lamps at the nearby road. It was actually quite dark and the exposure time was 25 sec. So I had plenty of time twisting the zoom ring back and forth (the camera was mounted on a tripod of course). I am very happy with my 12-24. Extremely sharp and only at wider apertures you can see some CA at the corners. Link to comment
seven 0 Posted February 1, 2006 This seems to communicate an impression you formed rather than a scene; not so easily accomplished - I like it. Link to comment
joachim.wabnig 0 Posted February 1, 2006 You are right. I am more and more drawn to collect impressions, interpret a scene my way instead of faithfully reproducing it. I find it more interesting but also more challenging. Link to comment
seven 0 Posted February 1, 2006 Joachim - not to mention rewarding.I cannot think of anything more sublime than being able to match an impression with an expression. Hope to see more. Cheers. Link to comment
