"Where one finds Light"

This is the last one in my follow thelight series.
The title was inspired by Pnina!

Gorgeous detail and light Lionel.:)))

I saw your comments about digital, sky and exposures. I take up to 3 different exposures and meld them together...you end up with everything how it should be! We hopsessss anyway! Now this is digital and I can't see how it could be bettered on a film camera! I use to shoot with a nice Canon AE1 and never got great pics like this. Babble Babble ;)))

I haven't read your "comments about digital" but this extraordinarily-exposed photo and Amelie's comment hint to me what it means. Is this High Dynamic Range Compression or did you merge plural photos by handwork with PS? Sublime architecture photo with superb angle!

How did you do this, Lionel? Will you give us some technical details, please?

ok, my friends, here they are:

this was shot during a gray cloudy day. Where most diffused light enters the cathedral from everywhere.

I shot without tripod, 1/8s, f/4. 400 ISOs.

This setting was decided by measuring spot on the huge stained glass, and increasing gradually up to 1.5 stops.

(Daily, I used to do that as well with film: this is in fact my old techniques applied to digital)

Noise Redux ON (and I have to say, incredibly good one !)

There is then some subtle photoshop shadow/highlight adjustment.

No cropping, no skew, no perspective adjustment.

Since this session, I have decided to shoot in RAW only mode.

Certainly not the easiest lighting conditions and you did a great job with it! It's definitely worth it to use raw here. Where did you shoot it?

- Hiroya ... ;-) Thank you.
- Ghiga, the place is called "light of God" ... but it needs some PSing to convey this feeling ;)
