A esta preciosidad la conozco yo. Me gusta la composicion. Hace unos meses no estaban esas "cortinas", y los retratos ahi eran especiales con un fondo negro natural, que a mi tanto me gusta. Un saludo.

This image has been selected for discussion. It is not necessarily the "best" picture the Elves have seen this week, nor is it a contest. It is simply an image that the Elves found interesting and worthy of discussion. Discussion of photo.net policy, including the choice of Photograph of the Week should not take place here, but in the Site Feedback forum.

When including images, please make sure they are relevant to the discussion, not more than 511 pixels wide, sufficiently compressed and make sure to enter a caption when uploading.

Will - looks like dirty strips of hanging plastic, such as would cover a large door. I like the photo a lot but the softness evident in the large version bothers me.

I think this is a nicely designed and seen photo in a real setting. There is a nice touch of

irony in the shot, but largely it is just what it is--I don't think there is any deeper meaning

here.

For me, the lightness of the plastic as it approaches the outer frame seems a bit distracting,

but a little burn would fix that and would at the same time allow the Giraffe to stand out a bit

more. The sharpness issue is an easy fix in photoshop. I will attach a version with this

burning done for consideration.

Burning shmurning! This is a great image. I like the way the giraffe is looking out at the people looking in at him. It lets you know in no uncertain terms that the animals can be entertained by us as well.

This is simply a wonderful

image to look at and to enjoy. Great seeing here by the photographer.

I think this is a great shot, given that I don't think the subject was asked to stand still! I like the colour of this picture, nothing dominates the picture.

Felicidades, Carlos. Me gusta muchisimo.

I especially like the way the giraffe is coming out from behind the curtain. This is a great shot. Congratulations on having it chosen as Photo of the Week.

Don't see a sharpness problem and don't mind the light edges. The whole point of the POW is to have an interesting discussion about an interesting photograph. If we all just say, "nice picture," there is not much room left for discussion, is there?

That said ... unnnh ..... nice picture. I like it. I think it's charming and cute and I can't see a thing I would change but I really don't see anything to discuss about it.

Not great art, but a real fun photograph. Could be improved a little, i.e., where are its eyes? Seem to be black holes. A half hour with photoshop to improve shadows and eyes would make some difference, I should think. I do smile as I look at the picture, and that's what's importent--getting through to someone.

A nice snapshot in my opinion...nothing else. A great eye to see the shot, and an interesting composition, but I think this is more an example of being in the right place in the right time than any sort of photographic 'skill'. I don't mean to sound condescending, but there isn't really any skill that goes into a shot like this. The colour and lighting are average at best, and as others pointed out it isn't very sharp. People like Michael may say that sharpness is bourgeois, but I say a lack of sharpness is from a lack of technique...be it appropriate shutter speed, use of a tripod, etc.

With that said, there are many who have all of the skill in the world, and no 'eye'...so take my comments for what they're worth.

?It is just what it is? ? Mona Chrome.

I think I can agree with that. :-) I mean, yes, it?s a nice fun catch of a good photographic opportunity, but that?s that. I won?t wake up at night to see it again and again. And then I have to agree with Bill Foster as well:

?I can't see a thing I would change but I really don't see anything to discuss about it.?

Anyway, good photo. Voila. I?m done. :-)

c'mon, give us a break, will you? Sometimes simple is good and fun!

This "snapshot" (not reductive, IMHO) made me laugh on the spot. Sometimes, that's what it is all about... fun!

Well done and keep up the good "work".

Very good composition (looking around the corner), good colours, fine format. The result is, of course, cute and funny picture of an curious giraffee. Perhaps I would like to expose the human point of view, kind of expression on it's face, that is combined with insinuating surrounding and very good technical accomplishment.
