tom t 0 Posted January 10, 2006 Sorry, I find selective desaturation a bit boring and rather clich頨just a personal opinion - feel free to differ). You composition is rather bland here - try off-centering the subject. Even more so because you did decide to use selective desaturation - this makes the central positioning even more obvious. I've never been to Angkor but it certainly is on my wish list! Personally I do not see or feel Ankor in this shot, and would not have known the location if it weren't for your title. Do you have shots of the monk with a tad more context? Regards, Tom Link to comment
doeke 0 Posted January 10, 2006 I love the idea, but I don't really like the composition. Allthough you've got 2 photos in your portfolio, I really do look forward to seeing more. Link to comment
alexander mandl 0 Posted January 11, 2006 Hello, IMO the composition is not good: 1.) the monk is in the center 2.) the monk looks down 3.) the monk is oversaturated and the rest is completely desaturated. Since in Angkor everything is made from stone - IMO it is enough to leafe the stone colors as they are... I have been there too and it is a nice place... regards alex Link to comment
rowanherring 0 Posted January 11, 2006 Thank you all for the critiques. Being a beginner at this, all the help i can get is greatly appreciated. Feel free to look at my other photos and tell me what you think. Rowan Link to comment
danperez 0 Posted January 11, 2006 This is one of those images that makes me want to travel more. I really like how the eye is focused on the monk via the colors, but it is not overwhelming, my eye still wanted to wonder around and look at the detail in the walls after first being directed to the subject. Great shot. Link to comment
