I debated about posting this photo. Do you think the hay roll is too

overpowering for the image? All comments are appreciated.

I like the composition very much. I wonder if the hay roll would have appeared less overpowering if you were able to eliminate the shadow. Perhaps with a flash? Is this a new camera for you? I thought you were using something else before?

The picture has a fantastical, otherworldy quality to it that I really like, and I think the oversized hay roll just adds to that dreamlike impression. Very nice!

Sondra, This strikes me as maybe one of a series of shots made at this location. To me having this bale up close creates impact and interest, drawing the viewer's eye into the photograph.....Beautiful range of tones.....Jim

Sondra, i don't know how possible this would have been but what strikes me is that the composition might work better if the buildings were more to the left. This would give a diagonal which would go with the shadow. The size of the hay bale is fine by me.

I love the perspective here. The bale is obviously much smaller than the barn, and with the angle, the bale takes up almost the whole frame ... yet I feel like I have a perfect idea as to the scale of the barn. I love the textures that the bale and the grasses create. Wonderful IR work, as usual!!

I think this is the first time I've actually enjoyed a photo of these over sized chunks of Shredded Wheat!
