pmj 6 Posted January 16, 2006 This image has been selected for discussion. It is not necessarily the "best" picture the Elves have seen this week, nor is it a contest. It is simply an image that the Elves found interesting and worthy of discussion. Discussion of photo.net policy, including the choice of Photograph of the Week should not take place here, but in the Site Feedback forum. When including images, please make sure they are relevant to the discussion, not more than 511 pixels wide, sufficiently compressed and make sure to enter a caption when uploading. Guest Guest Posted January 16, 2006 Amazing! Is this a straight photo? I mean, is this a Picasso-deconstruction-reconstruction? Either way it's great...if it's straight it's a wonder and if it isn't it's a great idea. Link to comment
mona_chrome 0 Posted January 16, 2006 The first imapct of this photograph is quite interesting and serves to break one from reality for a moment. Unfortunately, then it appears it is only because it is unreal! and maybe just too unreal to allow the feeling to linger. The right side, with it's empty eye socket, and somewhat mushed transitions unfortunately become to distracting for me to really enjoy this image further than that first hit. I think it is a great idea, maybe just not executed as well as it might. If I am wrong and this is real, nature is just giving me fits again! Link to comment
jfochoa 0 Posted January 16, 2006 Totally real! Es una imagen impactante en la que has capturado soberbiamente una actividad tan comun entre ellos. La forma en que se "funden" es fantastica y muy bien lograda. Felicidades, Max por tu POW! Saludos desde Mexico. Link to comment
dan_cr 0 Posted January 16, 2006 I like it. Animals, especially apes, doing "human like" acts of caring for one another are always a hit. This is a really great capture of such a momment. Scanning the above comments, I see there is some question as to whether or not this is a straight photo or a digital collage. Either way, this is an image worthy of POW status. If it is a collage, that does take away some of the magic of the decisive momment, but does not take away from the fact the image is stunning. Good job. Link to comment
jo7hs2 0 Posted January 16, 2006 Nice, really nice. The color is great, and the confusing image that develops reminds me of some sort of puzzle. Kinda gives me a headache if I look at it for a while, however, because my brain keeps trying to put the two animals together to form one... Link to comment

aurelio 0 Posted January 16, 2006 Incredible sharpness, already said, I agree Great composition, idem Great cropping, idem The composition of this image has something of a cubist painting, it looks as two views of the same ape, one frontal, one by side. Really great shot, very original! Link to comment
marina-cano 0 Posted January 16, 2006 Enhorabuena! Congratulations! This photo is real. I was there. These mandriles (Mandrillus sphinx) are two. And there is no collage. I don't understand what you can see strange in this picture. Best wishes. :) Link to comment
atlatling 4 Posted January 16, 2006 Powerful, colorful, focused and perfectly cropped. Congratulations on being this week's selection for POW. Nice. Link to comment
