Karl Schuler 48 Posted December 23, 2005 I like the composition of this photo. The young shepherd in the light and the flock with the herder in the dark background. Perhaps the contrast between the two is a bit strong and therefore the manipulation is too evident. Unfortunately the right eye of the boy looks strange. Karl Link to comment
sawicki 0 Posted December 24, 2005 THe contrast between the background and the first plan seems to be too big - it looks as it would be a bit artificial. It looks strange. Link to comment
jusben 0 Posted December 24, 2005 I like they way in which you have used lighting to isolate the subject, which is after all the shepherd. Yet you have given enough detail to show [in the background] the sheep. I must admit though that I would have liked to see a little more detail in the right side of the face. Just a FRACTION lighter. vicky2 0 Posted December 25, 2005 ...it looks fake! The lighting makes it look like the boy is simply standing in front of a backdrop or a big projection screen playing a movie in the background. It's an amazing composition but just doesn't evoke the same emotional response as it would if it looked realistic. Link to comment

alexander mandl 0 Posted December 25, 2005 Good composition, but as Karl mentioned due to the high contrast of the boy and the dark background the manipulation is quite obvious. But it still looks good... regards alex Link to comment
stephan_funke 0 Posted December 25, 2005 I agree with Karl on the too strong contrast but admire the calm background. I would have placed the shephard over the frame to make it clear from the very beginning, that we have here a composit. Happy New Year Stephan Funke Link to comment
marcobrivio 0 Posted December 25, 2005 Too manipulated to be excellent, according to my personal taste, but I appreciate your artistic approach to photography. Link to comment
