pmj 6 Posted December 17, 2001 Too bad the glass is so reflective (polarizer?) and that the man isn't more "clearly" smoking. Still, a very nice illustration of what the poster wants to promote. Link to comment
leo 0 Posted December 18, 2001 Nice shot . I for one know just how hard it is to photograph people in dc ! The only problem is that the sign says smoke outside , and obviously the man is ( when I first glanced at it , I thought it said smoking is unhealthy ) Link to comment
jeff_frank 0 Posted December 18, 2001 I thought the fact that the sign is reflective adds a lot to the picture. At a glance it apprears to make the sign transparent as it obviously appears to the smoker. Sorry if I added unintended meaning but I thought this was really cool. Link to comment
rjcoolpix880 0 Posted December 18, 2001 I love the irony or truth(depending on if the guy knows the poster is there)a little on the dark side. Link to comment
alex_hawley 0 Posted December 18, 2001 Love it. Great humor (or is it supposed to be a sombre message?) Link to comment
apps 0 Posted December 27, 2001 At first I thought, "Polarize it!" but then I took a peak through my mind's eye at what it would have looked like if the sign had not been so reflective. It would have been so cornball, cheesy and hackneyed, that a communal groan would have been heard around the world. As it is, I like how the eye has to wander all around to take in the scene and to understand all of its components. Things that might also work (IMHO)would be to 1) eliminate the span of darkness down the side of the picture furthest from the smoking man and 2)make it more obvious that the man is smoking. Thanks for posting it! Link to comment
dumpster001 1 Posted March 3, 2002 My first impatient glance at the picture didn't reveal the cigarett in the man's hand. Instead, I fell for the similar hand poses by the child and the man. Then I got the real dynamics. Reflections are necessary evil here, adds a different feel here. Good one, all in all. Link to comment
