jonathancharlesphoto 0 Posted December 14, 2001 Before anyone mentions it, this is d eliberately dark to reproduce the sensation of being dazzled, looking towards the sun (& her). Like most of this series the photo was unposed - I was just lucky to catch her natural position just after she had climbed out of the sea. Link to comment
chjohnson 0 Posted December 14, 2001 I was able to get what you were doing without the explanation. I particularly like how just two parts of her are being lit by the sun. Just enough detail to appreciate. Link to comment
jodie coston 0 Posted December 14, 2001 I agree that this needs no explanation - you do a fine job of conveying what you've said with the image alone. Lovely. Link to comment
steve_strawn 0 Posted December 15, 2001 Being dark is what makes this very good. My one quibble would be I would have liked some room on the left and not have the model dead-center. Link to comment
johan_erasmus 0 Posted December 16, 2001 I disagree. This image is far too complex for basic camera club rules to apply. The model is slightly to the right, balancing looking to the left, perfectly situated in the highlighted area of the rock. That with all the other balancing and opposing elements in the background and foreground make for a very satisfying composition. Great job. Link to comment
gk photography 0 Posted December 17, 2001 Interesting idea, but I'd have gone for a fill flash and a more consistent background. Link to comment
ananda_chaudhuri 0 Posted December 17, 2001 The triangular rock behind and to the right of her head is distracting. I would like to see a liitle bit more light on the figure. Maybe too much to expect for an unposed shot. Link to comment
secondsight 0 Posted December 18, 2001 Still one of those people who spend too much money on a Mac hey? Oh well, at least you got a great shot. Keep up the good work. Link to comment

jonathancharlesphoto 0 Posted May 30, 2005 I have slightly modified the image in line with Ananda's suggestion (removing a triangular rock on the horizon). Link to comment
jonathancharlesphoto 0 Posted May 30, 2005 I tried to give the impression of being dazzled, by making the shadows very dark. Thank you for your comments, Jonathan. Link to comment
