pt2 0 Posted December 4, 2005 My first and simplest of a few ideas for this assignment..... Link to comment
dexdee 0 Posted December 4, 2005 This is almost sick, but interesting. Looks very scary. Great one to work with it in PS. DDD Link to comment
tom t 0 Posted December 4, 2005 Great idea, very interesting and well done. I like the composition too. Nitpicking - perhaps a little more space on top so the slashes are not cut off. Ands the reddish hint top/right I would clone out. Tom Link to comment
robidooo 0 Posted December 5, 2005 Now that is scary. I wonder what the rest of the face looks like! Great theme fit here, at least I think! Only nitpick I have is the lightning. I'm not sure I like the difference of light on the overall photo, and more specially on the white on the eye. Also think that the white should be more white! Link to comment
seven 0 Posted December 5, 2005 I suppose it fits the theme - literally, but that might be the only way to shoot this theme, not sure as I haven't thought about the current Conceptual folder yet. It's empty, the eye sees nothing, okay accepted. I really don't like this image though, it feels clinical and could have been toned down in non-colour. I can't look at it long enough to comment on lighting or comp - I'm sure that says more about me than the image. You nailed the theme, and congrats for that PT. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted December 5, 2005 I applaud the idea. The focal point it off imo. The upper lashes appear clearer where as the lower area with the bit of iris isnt as sharp and one tends to focus on that part as the lashes and eye socket/lid lead to that area. Link to comment
dominiquedodge 0 Posted December 5, 2005 Strikingly gruesome PT - the photo that is! Eye catching too ... Might look good in B&W with the red veins burnt darker to make them stand out even more. At first I thought it was upside down. A good (though litteral) submission for a difficult assignment (IMO). Link to comment
disneyry 0 Posted December 5, 2005 I agree with Seven about this feeling very clinical. It looks like something out of a medical textbook. That being said, the crop on the right is little too tight and I would have cloned out what appears to be the tip of a finger in the very top right. Link to comment
onyo__ 0 Posted December 5, 2005 Sorry, I don't see the theme fit. The eye obviously is seeing nothing, but we don't know that it is a good eye to begin with.Photographically, I would like to see the white portion in focus and maybe better lit. If the white portion is not in focus then maybe the brow should be? The bit of skin above the brow is a little distracting. The wetness all around seems to say "This is painful. Please make it stop", which actually works well with the diagonal line of the upper lid. You can feel the tension in the model.Onyo- Link to comment
saddleboy 0 Posted December 6, 2005 And i like it very much! simple but effective idea. THE perfect eye to see nothing, except maybe what's inside his head !! Reminds me of. Joel Peter Witkins Warning: If your not familliar with witkins, his stuff is very intriguing but somehow scary, he works with dead body....well worth a look but also deserves a warning! pt2 0 Posted December 8, 2005 Some said sick, scary, cold, ugly, clinical, gruesome, painful, uhggg... Others said great, interesting, applaud, catching, effective. I'm happy with the effects it had. Link to comment
jana 1 Posted December 17, 2005 Original in all ways, aestetisc, idea and execution. That is a great eye and it sees nothing, Well done. cheers Jana Link to comment
peter_daalder 0 Posted December 18, 2005 I have no trouble looking at this at all, as I have plenty of experience with inserting eye drops into my partner's eyes. Especially, when she has had trouble with her contact lenses. Quite a while ago, she underwent laser surgery on both eyes, in order to mend detached retinae. I can assure everyone that one's eyeballs, which have been 'popped out', operated on, and re-inserted don't look very appealing at all! What 'bothers' me about this shot is the choice of DOF and the water droplets... The bottom left corner appears to be in focus, but the part that really interests me - the eye - is in the OOF zone. I can live with that, but what really distracts my attention is the presence of the scattered water droplets. They might be tears, but I'm not quite convinced that they are. Conceptually, I can imagine that "No Sight" could bring tears to the eyes of all photographers... :) Link to comment
htc 0 Posted December 23, 2005 theme fit is fine with me, altough i find this image clinical. More DOF and a different angle (a tad wider) would help. cheers Link to comment
