Hunting dog

I'm amature photographer trying to get better...any comments and

suggestions appreciated.

This is a nice shot. You might try a tad (-1.5 to -2 stops) of fill flash to open up the shadow on the neck. That would also provide a nice catch light in the eyes. It's also a bit high in the frame, but that's probably just me.

I'm always a sucker for dog pictures, and this is a nice one. I disagree with Phil that it needs fill flash; I think the natural lighting of this picture is it's best attribute. Fill flash would ruin it, IMO.

I once read that when you photograph pets, you should try to do so with their collars off. This seems like a perfect example of a collar being really distracting. You might also experiment with different framing and cropping. Overall, a nice picture, though.
