Quebec Barn

peter_beal1

This barn really stood out in the field, although it was abandoned it seems the farmer still showed some respect for it by mowing so neatly around it.

I love the way the rust coloured roof contrasts with those rich greens that seem to abound in your images.

I am so impressed by the color all your photos seem to radiate. Either you have wonderful weather in New England & Quebec that makes everything so green, or you use some super film and have a sense of when the light is just right. Well done on all your photos.

You might want to crop this one to include only the barn. Its a nice shot I would like to give it an 8/8 or 8/7 but the background right and foreground are distracting. Please let me know if you work it over again.

Hello peter, thank you for having taken time to visit my folios. This picture is your best so far (to me), I love the contrast almost-red/green. I agree with most do not change the composition, it is nice as it is

I like the textures on the barn this shot captures. It really shows the years of wear from sun and storms. Something about the sky seems out of place. The hillside way in the back starts to loose focus, yest the clouds beind it are still very crisp. The image modified by Gerry has an interesting appeal to it also. I think both work well.

Peter - thank you very much for commenting/rating my works. Well ... not much to add to what the others told, but I would love to see this beautiful work in B/W, just wondering how it would be desaturated ...

Im sorry but I disagree with Gerry Clarke on the cropping. I think the background and the foreground are what makes the photo work. It makes it look abandoned and it gives it the POW. Also, Gerry, the version you created might be okay on cropping but it looks like you went psycho on the curves in Photoshop. As far as the original goes, I think you should have spot metered the barn to give it more contrast and color; maybe even color fidelity.
