I love the idea and the capture is 7/7. What a cute model here :) I do not know if lower the camera angle will give us different feelings...

very nice picture...great idea

somehow it looks to me like "first born child on a planet"...so alone in such an unusual location for a baby...it makes me think

but i guess i would have liked it more without the trees

Have only rarely commented on a baby photo, but this one is really priceless! A wonderful publicity for the brave new world. We all came from the sea after all ...

One of the best baby photos I've ever seen. I think the camera angle is perfect - baby's head nicely outlined by the objects behind, the amount of sky perfect for the picture, and very nice foreground. I noticed this has been viewed 1.6 million times! There's a reason for that.

Novel and cute, and well-composed. For me, though, it's not moving: it's a photo of a landscape and a baby, but they don't seem to be connected. The pose of course is classic, with the one hand on the leg and the other grabbing the toes, and the baby seemingly oblivious to the scenery and surroundings. In that sense, if the intention is to demonstrate the obliviousness (is that a word?), then the image works. Personally I'd prefer the baby to be interacting in some way with the surroundings.

Hi Lissa. Congratulations for being the one chosen to run the gauntlet this week. I have not fully examined your picture yet. Just a glance or two but have one problem with it. It is too red. It's perfectly posed, composed and executed as far as I can see, but the redness--possibly from my own monitor, but I don't think so--shows up in the beautiful child's skin tone, the clouds, and especially in the rock. The rock could be that color, but the baby shouldn't.

I like your name for the photo, although several others popped into my mind immediately. I think a good name is importent to any piece of art, and you done good!

I think the redness (perhaps magentaness?) Bill is mentioning is partly secondary to the low sun angle, but I would bet some levels adjustment was necessary to keep the side of the baby not being directly lit (our left, baby's right) from being too cyan. That side looks like it's lit by reflected light from the sky.

As far as the baby not interacting with the surroundings, that's not really what babies do. And I think the intent of this image was to juxtapose created things. As such, the rock looks very primordial, lava-like, and the clouds dramatic, so I think Lissa hit upon the perfect formula for this setting.

I would echo Dougs comments regarding the lack of connction between the baby and its surroundings. It rather looks like its just been plonked down there on the rocks to look cute. And cute it looks but nothing more, not for me atleast.

A human lacking a connection between itself and the natural world, seemingly oblivious to the scenery and surroundings, completely self absorbed in the maginficense of itself and its own creation as if it was all put there just for him.

Works for me, see it everyday.

When I saw this photo, I saw the same idea that Steve mentioned in the comment he made. It is a human so self absorbed, that he/she doesn't see the beauty of the world around them. It would be great if Lissa could share her thoughts on why she created this image. I like it a lot.
