Fishing Port, Santorini

The pic is pretty close to as-is, but I did increase contrast slightly in Photoshop. The color, texture, etc are otherwise unmanipulated.

This was taken at a small fishing port on Santorini, Greece. The

buildings on the islands are often stark white, with a vibrant color

contrast on doors, windows, etc. This fence with matching net really

caught my eye. I increased contrast slightly in Photoshop, but

otherwise the picture is unmanipulated. I'm not sure what to even

categorize this one as....

Interesting... although I must say the limited colour palette takes a little getting used to. My eye is dying for some blue... but other than that, I like. I might crop a little off the right to tidy up the lead-in line of the net and the dark diagonal line rising from the wall above the net is a bit distracting, but just nitpicking. A good contrast between shapes with the same colour.

You might want to check out Manolis's photos. There's a Santorini folder in there, as well. The technical quality isn't that great because of the equipment he uses, but the composition is usually there.

Canadian Prairies, eh? Check out Aaron and Eric's work if you haven't found them already.

I appreciate any input. I thought it added a bit of interest and 'motion' having that bit of net trail out of the corner. I guess the little float is a bit distracting though. Thanks again.

I've been away from this forum for a while, so what better way to return to the world of constructive criticism that to critique someome with the same last name as me. Who knows, maybe we're related somehow.

Anyway, I was astounded that you were able to stumble upon two totally dissimilar objects with almost identical hues of the same colour. Nice composition with the diverging lines along the top and bottom of the wall...I'm a little distracted by the crop at the lower right corner, but it's not a huge deal. The only thing that, I think, could have contributed is if the wall towards the right side of the image could have been as white as the rest but, of course, you had no control over that.
