Quite difficult to get to this vantage point, wore myself out trying to find the best spot.

Unfortunately, the majority of the drop is above the falls shown, but cannot be safely

photographed from anywhere. Thoughts welcome. Thanks.

i think your composition is great. the blurred foliage to the left of the falls is always a problem in these shots and the falls itself are a bit blown out. i really like the photo though (fantastic location), and with some techincal improvements i'd give it 7/7. 5/7.

Great capture of the swirls. Could you give the exposure details too? It's always a tricky balance to get the right shutter speed to get enough movement without too much blurring.

Teru, I have been working to improve my ability to capture moving water. I recently bought a circular polarizer to help me deal with shadows and allow me to slow down the shutter speed.

I don't have access to the file right now, but I believe this was f22 and either 4 or 5 seconds with the polarizer, which adds about 2 stops.

This is a nice location, but remote and I was quite dissapointed to find that there were 2 large trees down right behind where I was standing. If not for that I would have been able to do some different things with the composition.

Sometime I hope to muster the ambition to hike out here at dawn for some nice lighting.

Hehe, I found this photo an hour ago, and thought the same thing that you commented under my waterfall photo! Great minds think alike ;)

I see that waterfall photos receive very low ratings on photo.net, usually much less than what they really deserve. Some sort of paradigm in nature photography I guess. Anyway, I find this one very scenery and unusual. The lines and shapes in water add the sense of motion and generally look very nice.

Also good that you included the trees. They are distracting from the view behind them, but if they weren't there, this would lose something special. Well done spotting such a scene and capturing it! 6/6
