hugo tuffen 0 Posted December 14, 2005 thanks jana! yes, i like how the surface is metallic and there is little contrast. charly thought it was a little too 2-dimensional to really work. all comments are really welcome and thanks for yours! Link to comment
AaronFalkenberg 0 Posted December 16, 2005 A great opportunity. The tones are a little muddy. If you want to capture the metallic look, try someting like this... http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=2494865 You shadow levels are good, but raising the highlights will give it some needed punch. sper 0 Posted April 5, 2006 The last reviewer said to push the highlights. I do not think this is a good idea. This photograph displays tones from zones 1-6 (more likely 5 and a half if there were such a zone) and it works! The flat tonality brings out the wet, matted feeling of the leaves. More contrast may indeed add punch to this image, but I believe this image has an aesthetic that does not require the drama that highlights would induce. I looked at your gallery after seeing your critique of my work. Thank you so much for your input. It felt very good to hear that someone out there enjoyed what I am doing. Unfortunetly those were part of a project I shot for my color photography class last spring. At this time I am no longer working on that series, though I may pursue it further in the future. I am in college, so I have to work in the area of whatever classes I am taking. Thanks again for putting in the time to view my photographs and write a critique. I love this image. Link to comment
