Hi,

love this shot. Help me a little. I like to do wildlife photography @ own a D200. I also have a 300mm f/4 AF-S nikkor lens which I shoot with a TC-17E II, but I find that if I put that on & try to do BIF I find myself searching the sky to find them in camera. Drives me nuts as the birds are gone before I have a chance to locate them. So I want to get a zoom. I can't afford the 200-400VR. I keep thinking a MF 500 f/4 - - but I'm too slow to focus (and I do mean slow).

Would you recommend this lens for me?

Thanks for input. I know someone who's trying to sell a used one he only used for a few days & I can get it at a deal, but he sent me a few unsharpened jpgs at 500mm so on the soft side & hardly something to judge by. Feedback from another Nikon shooter will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Lil

Hi Lil!!!!Thanks for your comments, I appreciate them. In reference to the lens, I think is very good for what you pay. It is not as fast as you may think but it gets the work done and believe it or not this photograph was taken with the camera handheld.
Cheers, Rafael
