JRX94 0 Posted October 13, 2005 Good capture and very nice and original insect (looks more or less like one of the cicada family ?). If you allow me one question : i see that you use a black background on virtually all your macros. Why is that ? Personal choice, shooting by night, or effect of the lens... ? Don't think it bothers me, it doesn't, i'm just wondering. Link to comment
birteragland 1 Posted October 13, 2005 Its not really that I choose the black background, but most of my shots are taken in rainforest areas, where it is usually quite dark to start with, a lot of times especially in high humidity I do not use a flash but instead use a head torch which only lights up the subject I am taking,I have found that flash + high humidity gives blur. I think this accounts for the black background.Personally I don,t mind the dark backgrounds. This photo for example was taken in the middle of the day in a very dense part of the jungle with humidity at about 99.5. JRX94 0 Posted October 13, 2005 ... it seems obvious. But i probably wouldn't have figured it out by myself. Living in a temperate country and doing most of my macros in gardens or meadows, i don't have to face the restrictions you mention. However i did consider buying a head torch, to shoot moths for instance. Thanks for your quick answer & regards ! Link to comment
