mick stephenson 0 Posted October 12, 2005 Scanned this a while ago from 35mm - Provia, I think. Polariser and 81C filters. Minimal crop and retouching. Comments/critiques/ratings appreciated. Link to comment
jmoody 0 Posted October 12, 2005 Love the nice warm colors (isn't Spain just the best for that!)and the almost abstract feel of the angles and lines. Nice choice of subject. Not at all a big deal (& my favorite nit-pick of them all), but do you think that the yellow building would be all out of whack if you rotated the planter left a bit to level out its top? Hard to say if it would change everything too much or not. Just a thought Link to comment
mick stephenson 0 Posted October 12, 2005 .. but it weighed a ton! It was full of water. With another pair of hands I might have been able to prop it up; alone there was no way. To be honest I've not really noticed this since I shot it and it's interesting that you did - just shows what another pair of eyes can do! On balance (no pun..) I think rotating the shot would really screw up the perspectives too much. It's refreshing to have your input, made me re-evaluate the whole image. Thanks Jeff. Link to comment
sharshar 0 Posted October 13, 2005 WHAT A GORGEOUS SHOT! THE COLORS ARE AMAZING AND THE EDGE OF BLUE ON THE RIGHT IS GENIUS! I THINK CROPPING OFF THE LEFT SIDE RIGHT AGAINST THE JUG, WOULD GIVE MORE BALANCE. BUT AS IS, IT A GORGEOUS SHOT, IT HAS WARMTH AND TEXTURE! Link to comment
stindphoto 0 Posted October 14, 2005 Simple shapes and colours that amplify each other. A great photo can be this simple - and as we all know that what looks simple almost never is. A shot like this takes a good eye. Link to comment
marty_golin2 0 Posted October 14, 2005 I enthusiastically second the "beautifully simple" comment above. I especially love the color/texture of the urn (left to my own devices, were I to come to this scene, I likely would have missed your shot for a close up of only the curve of the urn.) My only minor critique is possibly having the camera position just slightly to the left to make the curve below the lip of the urn not to be directly in line with the bright building behind it.
