Guest Guest Posted March 12, 2007 I'd title it "Tree three-point-three lots wide" to nail the strangeness. It's a picture I'd put on my wall for a while. Link to comment
pmj 6 Posted March 12, 2007 Please note the following: This image has been selected for discussion. It is not necessarily the "best" picture the Elves have seen this week, nor is it a contest. Discussion of photo.net policy, including the choice of Photograph of the Week should not take place here, but in the Site Feedback forum. The About Photograph of the Week page tells you more about this feature of photo.net. Before writing a contribution to this thread, please consider our reason for having this forum: to help people learn about photography. Visitors have browsed the gallery, found a few striking images and want to know things like why is it a good picture, why does it work? Or, indeed, why doesn't it work, or how could it be improved? Try to answer such questions with your contribution. Link to comment
glenwoodsherry 0 Posted March 13, 2007 Jose, I think the mark of a very good photograph (and so to say, a very good photographer) is the ability to see what is unique and special in the everyday, to capture what most of us would never see. Beautifully shot. A perfect 7&7. Well done. Glenwood Link to comment
malbuquerque 0 Posted March 13, 2007 Jose, Very interesting way of capturing an otherwise uninteresting subject. The subtle tones on the asphalt make this photo work as a pretty nice abstract. It shows you have a keen artistic eye. Congratulations. Link to comment

pankaj purohit 1 Posted March 13, 2007 Do you everytime put camera against your eyes? This picture is of a parking lot seeing from the top, but colors, representation and the whole frame tells that you have very good frame capturing eyes, god gift. congratulations and regards! best wishes for the future Link to comment
mthew 0 Posted March 13, 2007 This photo is very original. I really enjoy photos that mix man and nature. Here you see a parking lot which many consider ugly and ruin landscapes, but yet you see grass growing through the pavment and the tree. Nature will always dominate. Link to comment
AJHingel 127 Posted March 14, 2007 It is interesting how little discussion this photo can initiate. What do we in fact do with a photo that looks very much like a snapshot and which seems heavily photoshoped or just of extremely bad technical quality (the light blue areas in general) and yet, a photo, that is highly aesthetic and somewhat original ? Looking into the portfolio of Jose, the photo seems also, up till now according to what he shares with us, to be unique among his other shots. The composition is showing no respect to shared rules and does not guide our eyes towards any particular object or light. The centred tree or the white stones of the parking lot as well as the numbers are, in my eyes, not there for viewers to interpret the scene or to tell a story. The composition transmits the message that this is to be appreciated as mainly a decorative piece of work. Seeing it like that, it deserves its good notes, in my view. Congratulations to Jose for this POW. Link to comment
pmj 6 Posted March 14, 2007 Perhaps it is time to shake things up a little... you can view all nominations for this week in a single page. Warning: that page contains nudity. Feel free to add comments to that page.Comments on this page should still address this photo.Maybe if we, at some point in time, have a themed Photograph of the Week, with 10 portraits, or 8 sports photos, or 9 wildlife photos, we'll ask you to compare the photos. For now, please don't.Comments on site policy should still be posted in the Site Feedback forum.Enjoy! Link to comment
