I really enjoy this photograph. I love to travel and this reminds me of sitting on the beach - relaxing with a cool, ocean breeze. I love the 2 levels my eye takes me - from the beach movement to the sea movement. Very nice!!

There are many elements - in this picture and they combine wonderfully well into beautiful composition. I can look at this for a very long time and get enjoyment.

This image has been selected for discussion. It is not necessarily the "best" picture the Elves have seen this week, nor is it a contest. It is simply an image that the Elves found interesting and worthy of discussion. Discussion of photo.net policy, including the choice of Photograph of the Week should not take place here, but in the Site Feedback forum.

When including images, please make sure they are relevant to the discussion, not more than 511 pixels wide, sufficiently compressed and make sure to enter a caption when uploading.

Exquisite. My only small nit is the line that appears to goe through the head of the person following the camel. Otherwise, perfection!

In my opinion, the only thing that could make this photo better are some more camels walking on the beach (or some lizards would be cool too).

I would say this is a nice "snapshot" . I do not think it is a great "photograph" though. There are just too many things that could be improved upon for me to consider this a true piece of art. I like the subject matter, but there are problems with the lighting and composition in my opinion. I also happened to notice the line running through the persons head which the previous person mentioned. All of that said, it is nice to look at and think about. Unfortunately for me, all I can think about is how much better of a photo this COULD have been! Cheers anyway!

I agree with Don, the line running through the person's head is distracting, otherwise an interesting imaging. Cheers, Sondra

Nice combination of lines, colours and subject elements. That line-through-head can be fixed with just a little (electronic) darkroom work...

Very unique and a colorful beachscape, there are layers of waters and beach which made the shot more artistic. Indeed a good one. But one thing in baffle about the PS application. The layers of water and the beach seems to be quite anomalous. I may be wrong, Just my feelings I stated. Rgds.

Very fun shot, Marielou! I think if the camera were lower to the ground I would like it even more. IMHO it feels like it's being shot with to high an angle, and if it was taken closer to the center of the camel it would add quite a bit. The perspective change would also take care of the line through the head problem, as well. Good job!

"Vive la France ?" Second week in a raw, that we have French photographers on the front page. Not very important, but rare enough to be worth noting. :-) Congrats on a very nice, simple, amusing, and refreshing picture, Marielou. Would make a great travel brochure photo ! You were at the right time and the right place.

To me the composition of this POW is well balanced between foreground and background thanks to the camel and the boat. I also like the camel's leg and the leg of the man behind. The arm of the man in front of the camel is a bit awkward, but in the end I find it quite funny. As for this line behind the head of the man at left, it's perhaps not perfect, but life rarely is, and what could the photographer possibly do about it ?! All in all, a very successful photograph imo. Regards.

Disagreed. A lower camera level would make you lose the topish view on these different levels of the sea, and would tremendously flatten the shot, while showing significantly less of these aethetically pleasing layers in the water.

To say that this is a snapshot just sounds snobbish to me, at least if the term isn't defined in some way... To me, a snapshot is a casually taken photograph without any particular preparation and I don't think that is necessarily the case here. As far as we know the photographer may have been waiting here for quite a while to get this constellation.

There is no fancy lighting or edits here but the quality of the light in the photo captures the intensity I would imagine this scene would have. The colors and the sparse composition leaves me with a delicious light feeling, perfect for daydreaming as somebody else noted above...

What a pretty scene! As a photojournalist I have only one problem, no cutline. The photo has me wanting to know more about this place and these people. For me to say it has me wanting to know more is a compliment to the photo also, I find it very pleasing.
