This is another version of the same pic. It was cropped an framed

by Ross Frazier as a suggestion. I liked it so I'm posting it.

Please tell me what you think, your kind words will help make me a

better photographer.

thanks

I really like it, is this the original colouring or has it had a duotone/sepia treatment applied?

I love the subject and composition. The texture and warm tone is also pleasing. My eye does oscillate, however, between the spike and the bright area top center. You might try toning the bright area down a bit. Nice shot nonetheless!

Hey, thanks for the mention. The light is a little distracting, but the picture you had where you had no sky just didn't look as good. You still need those support beams in the frame.

Like I said earlier, try taking the picture on a clear day if possible. An overcast day will give more detail, but the coulds have to high of an albedo.

Hmm, this could look amazing as a night shot but with extensive (well set up) lighting. But you are just messing around for the moment.

I like this one very much. I don't agree that the washed out sky area is a problem, I think it helps especially after seeing the cropped version. There are a lot of nice visual elements here that work well together in keeping the eye from getting bored. And the placement of each one makes the whole frame complete. I particularlay enjoy the conflict between the nail/pin and the receding rails. It's a conflict that wonderfully expresses movement and at the same time shows permanent placement, a hard thing to accomplish in my opinion. You've done well with this.

Thanks Jason!

I didn't find the white background as distracting either, and my wife thinks it adds.

I like the contrast it brings.

Thanks for your comments.

In this series I like this one best. The bright area does not really bother as the tracks lead the eye right to it. And it does not seem blown out either. I like the aspect ration here (wide) - the other similar one feels a bit cramped. I am not too fond of your frame, though :)

Well seen and executed,

Cheers,

Thanks Tom, I appreciate your thoughts.

Why, may I ask, do you not care for the frame?

too thick? wrong color? just curious.

thanks

Hi Chad!

I think this is a really cool and I don't have a problem at all, with the white area.

I believe the cropping worked well.

About the frame, instead of white I would use a color closer to the colors on the rails, and place that white square closer to the picture.

Thanks for your comments on my Portfolio.

Cheers!

Sal.

Thanks Cameron, I just tested out my D50. Spent a week in Florida. I'll be posting Many pics soon, I went kinda nuts. Still disappointed I was unable to fill my SD card completely, still came away with about 200 photos!

this is very nicely done.  Good DoF, good framing. I actually like the vertical beams being so ghost-like.  I would clone out the yellowish thing in the BG.  It's distracting.  Cheers, Micheal
