Hi Ben - I appreciate your feedback. I was trying to get more detail into it - perhaps I went too far. One problem I have is that I'm on a Mac Powerbook - photos always look a lot lighter on my screen than on PC monitors - I'm always trying to split the difference. Perhaps I'll repost a bit ligther. Thanks again.

hi amy, i have the same issue! now i am on a monitor that is darker than what i use to photo edit, cuz it is a desktop. my understanding is that laptops (which i use to edit) are brighter. so it may well be that on my laptop the darkness i see here is less of an issue for me. but i think selectively brightening the flowers with a layer mask or something in photoshop (that's what i use, if you haven't tried it, worth learning, look on my portfolio page i've put up some info about it) would help. i totally understand the problem with blowing out details with highlights. here i think you can push a little on the yellows and the upper greens without going too far or disturbing the pleasing mood of the shot. but i want to underline i don't think you have a long way to go, just a little.

beautifully done and nice details. no need to worry about it being too dark, looks perfect on my calibrabted LCD.

Thanks all for your generous comments. I did play with the lightness/contrast a bit, and also altered the color balance a tad - new version up now. Thanks again.
