Handle with care

kasstzam

Not an original pose, my first attempt. Converted to B&W in Channel Mixer at 100% red, then resized. Original size is sharper around the eyes.

The holder will treasure this photo. Lois Greenfield has a similar shot of the dancer Daniel Ezralow and a baby, except all of Danny's muscular body is in the frame.

good lighning, good tonality, well cropped - but the motif is very common - anne geddes style - excuse me. but with such a common subject a real stunning photo is more than nice lightning & tonality. the challange is to find something new , a new interpretation, new viewpoint, look etc.

merci

terrific in every way, except a little too harsh in tones, just a little, leading to some spots that go right up to the border of hot; i think the scene merits a little more softness. also, the total black background seems a touch artificial. but these are not intended to detract from my view that this is very original, very enjoyable composition, the baby's expression is priceless, it works very well.

I disagree that originality is important in baby photos. For the parent, the originality in such pictures comes from the fact that it's THEIR baby, not someone else's. I have plenty of baby photos of me doing very ordinary things but my parents love them because it's me.

A very fine photo...but I have seen this a million times before...from the lighting to the pose. In fact, my next door neighbor has a picture of her baby on the fridge that is identical to this that she paid a photographer for.

Good job but it would be neat to see this done with at least a different pose for the baby/hand. With that said, most parents would be very happy with this (as another poster already pointed out).

Good work

Wonderful photo!

This "I have seen this a million times before" is total non-sense. If you don't look to closely at the details then most if not all the high rated nudes (or butterfly photos, bugs ...) on this site "I have seen a million times before" too. There are people with entire portefolios of highly ranked nudes that are all pretty much identical. So what? There are some great shots there none the less.

Look at the details of this photo. The angle of the baby's legs, the little hands, the look at the camera, the less than happy expression (which sets this photo apart from Lois Greenfields photo where the baby is older, holds up its head and has a terrifick smile). No, this is quite unique, thank you!

I will totally agree with Tachion Feynman on the whole "seen this a million times" thing. It is extremely difficult to take a unique picture of an infant and you pulled it off flawlessly, this is definetly one of the best photos i've seen on this sight
