daryl walter 0 Posted September 12, 2005 The late evening sunlight has been lighting up these blossoms for the last couple of weeks and I've been trying to capture this light. This is the best attempt so far. I exposed for the highlights to emphasise the backlighting (especially on the stalks) and keep the background dark and detail minimal. Would like to get some critique on this one (especially from any flower experts out there). Thx. Link to comment
cynthialeemaris 0 Posted September 12, 2005 Beautiful light. I love the transparency of the petals. Peace, C. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted September 12, 2005 Daryl, You don't need a flower expert to tell you that you've got a winner here! Excellent composition in the placement of all the blooms & buds and the diagonals of their stems. Backlighting sets this one apart from the ordinary causing the translucent petals to just seem to glow with colour and nicely rim lighting the buds and stems. You can safely move on to other subjects now that you've aced this one :) Your patience has paid off in spades. Best, LM. Link to comment
daryl walter 0 Posted September 18, 2005 Thanks for commenting guys. Len, appreciate the detailed analysis. I set out to address all of the points you highlighted when I took this (which makes a change!) so it's nice to see that noted. I think I might be making progress with flower photography :) Link to comment
