My daughter with some new props I just bought. I am just having a

blast. Thanks for your comments. I always appreciate them and look

forward to hearing what you have to say - both good and bad.

adorable, anyone would be pleased to receive this. the colors are really excellent, please share what you've done to get them! and the background and lighting very pleasing. its a cliche perhaps (girl with flower), but you've been so playful with it that it comes alive nicely.

i tried to give it a 7/6 for a and o, but i can't cuz you gave me a 7 recently, so factor in with your numbers analysis if you would like.

Thanks Ben - I take your comments as a huge compliment as I have been admiring your work for awhile now. For the colors I used a "Midnight Sepia" action that I downloaded from Dave Jaensk. I can't remember the website but if you are interested I could look it up... It adds a softness and enhances the yellow/brown tones. I then manually adjusted the levels and curves to my liking. I dodged her eyes a little to make them pop and used the unsharpen mask some. I think that is about it. Having the action saves a lot of time for me. Oh, I also used Neat Image for the noise. My, my thank goodness for computers - I guess:-) They do help create magic.

Wow, Emily, this is really really great! This is such a good photo. Seems that it is not all photoshop though, seems to me you started out with a nearly perfect photo, and then adjusted how it looks.

Did you realize you are in the "top 50" with this photo! That is pretty rare for a children's photo (at least, I've never seen many there.) You so thoroughly deserve the recognition of your photos! They really are great. Congrats.

Thank you for the explanation on how you achieved these effects, I think I will look up those actions. I find that doing photoshop work is quite time consuming and since I have my hands full I often don't exlore all the possibilities. I barely have time for taking photos and occasionally posting one.

Your work has been very inspiring to me. Thank you for all the photos you are posting.

Since this is your own daughter (actually, your gorgeous "almost pro" model :-) it is of no concern, but for your other photos, do you get something like a model release or some OK from the parents to post the resulting photo? Is something like that needed, or am I being paranoid?

Best, Maurik
