colin carron 58,916 Posted September 5, 2005 Ingenious use of the ultra wide angle lens. I particularly like the symmetrical viewpoint and the lane divider for a touch of cmplementary colour. Link to comment
iren 1 Posted September 5, 2005 Incredible! Thanks for a fresh look on a subject that has been seen many times before. Bravo!6/6 Link to comment
someoneelse 1 Posted September 5, 2005 I saw the thumbnail, thinking what am I looking at, seeing it full size, just amazingly beautiful Els Link to comment
Timo Hartikainen 556 Posted September 5, 2005 I almost missed this one, because the thumbnail looked like a double exposure or something messy for me..I'm happy that I viewed this, very nice. Link to comment
matthias_leuenberger 0 Posted September 5, 2005 Indeed very good - just one comment: it is not perfectly centered - is this on purpose? To me it would have made the shot even better Link to comment
mikel1 0 Posted September 5, 2005 Really original and different photo! I like it a lot! What I don't understand is the frame. Really nice photo anyway. Cheers, Mikel. Link to comment
charliexia 0 Posted September 6, 2005 Firstly I'd like to thank everyone who took the time to add a comment to this photo. Personally i didn't expect to get so much positive feedback for this photo. This shot was taken while i was on a job shooting conceptial images for a property development company. They were shooting a TV commercial in another pool, and i had only a few seconds to set up my camera and grab this shot (hence it's not perfectly aligned as someone has pointed out). What initially struck me about this pool was it's curves... and i must admit i didn't pay much attention to the colour until the photo came out of the lab... The contrasting colours really works IMO. As for the boarder, it's a full frame scan, and the black boarder is the edge of the transparency... The ironic part of the story is that the company i was working for didn't use this particular shot at the end of the day because the pool was too big.... :-( Link to comment
navarra 0 Posted September 6, 2005 Very nice! If you were aming for simmetry, the red stuff in the middle is not completely centered. A couple of swimmers or something interesting going on would make a great picture as well. I want an hasselblad now :) Simone Link to comment
charliexia 0 Posted September 6, 2005 it's a great camera... go for it... but it won't take pictures on its own! ;-) Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted September 6, 2005 great job. when i see thumbnail for first time I thought it's some interesting computerwork art or something similar. But this is overally better! Link to comment
pimgeertsfotografie 0 Posted September 12, 2005 beautifull lines, good crop. I like the lightnessIs this perhaps a Santiago Calatrava building? Link to comment
alejandrokeller 0 Posted October 5, 2005 I really love the lights here... it was probably not so easy to decide the exposure, was it? I myself have always wanted to shot (a picture of course) inside at a swimming pool but it is forviden in Switzerland (at least when there are some people arround). Regards, Alejandro Link to comment
charliexia 0 Posted October 17, 2005 PIM: I'm not sure who designed this building, but i do see the similarities, There are so many big name architects in town these days it's hard to keep track... Shanghai is filled with crazy architecture, and i love it! Alejandro Keller: Actually metering was quite easy on this one... took a spot meter of the floor of the pool as medium gray. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 8, 2005 This is at very nice shot. The colours and the sharpness are great. It is slightly out of balance though which bothers me when I am looking at it. I find myself turning to the left in front of my screen in order to get the perspective straight. So my evaluation is that the shot is (almost) perfect. I realize that some of the imbalance is due to the room itself, but still... Link to comment
