Converted to a painting (oil daubs, angled brush strokes, embossed,

canvas texture) on one layer with original underneath. Then, erased

top layer in places to let some detail through.

Very good ideea and nice composition... 6/6 is my rating....

I love the "painting like" texture but it merit to be brighter and more saturated. And why have you let the boat and the workers in the original photographic texture ?

It was an experiment. I have other versions with less detail but I like the contrast between more photographic detail and more painterly effects. I'm still learning, but it really intrigues me. I tried this one brighter and more saturated, but I tend to saturate things too much and the desaturated colors seemed to fit the mood of this piece for me.
