.ORF Question

Recommended Posts

Am i the only one though who notices a significant change in color

or exposure with RAW files. I can't pinpoint what the difference is.

If .ORF files maintain the White-Balance settings (not literally

maintain them but set up the presets in photoshop as they would be

if they were taken as JPEGS .For example i took two of the exact

same shot one RAW and one JPEG. The JPEG one looked more natural and

what one would want to see. THe RAW even with the presets (the white

balance and exposure that would be captured if taken in anythign

else but RAW) that the camera set it for in Photoshop looked not as

good as the JPEG why is this? What are the Optimal in Camera

settings for .ORF files?

"What are the Optimal in Camera settings for .ORF files? "

Such settings do not exist, a raw file consists of raw data with no "settings" applied to it. An in camera jpeg and a jpeg derived from a raw file out of the camera need not "look" the same. They started with the same data but the conversion used different hardware different software and probably differnt defaults. Good raw conversion software should give you complete control over WB, contrast, saturation, white and black points, sharpening and noise reduction. I use Photoshop CS to process my 5050 orf files and get results that are superior to in camera jpegs IMHO.
